Applications

TAMRA, also known as TMR or tetramethylrhodamine, is a xanthene dye widely employed as a fluorescent tag for numerous applications over decades. Xanthene dyes exist as two isomers, referred to as the 5- and 6-isomers, possessing nearly indistinguishable fluorescent characteristics. However, separation of these isomers is necessary to prevent the overlapping and blurring of labeled product peaks or bands in chromatography or electrophoresis analyses.
